AUSkey is due to retire next year

Apr 24, 2019 | Accounting, Business | 0 comments

AUSkey is due to retire next year. It will be replaced by:

  • myGovID – a way to prove who you are online as an individual, and for your practice
  • Relationship Authorisation Manager (RAM) – lets you manage who can act on behalf of your practice. You will be able to use Access Manager from within RAM.

You can continue to use your AUSkey to access the ATO online services while myGovID and RAM are being developed.

The ATO have been privately testing myGovID and RAM with tax and BAS agents and small businesses. They will use the feedback they receive to ensure the solution meets your and your business’s needs.

Together, myGovID and RAM offer a secure, simple and more flexible mobile authorisation solution. The change is part of the Digital Transformation Agency’s digital identity program GovPass, aiming to make government online services quick and easy to use.

Tax and BAS agents could soon be using myGovID to access online services for agents as soon as next month, as the ATO looks to ramp up its preparation for the decommissioning of AUSkey.

AUSkey is set to be phased out by March 2020, with myGovID and the Relationship Authorisation Manager (RAM) set to replace it as the new authentication solution.

DGL Accountants will let you know about further developments with myGovID and RAM in due course, keeping you up to date with your taxation and business affairs.  AUSkey is due to retire next year, please contact the Team today should you have any queries regarding its replacement!
